Cornerstone Church

Puppet group

‘Praisin’ Puppets’ is a puppet team based at Cornerstone Church which has been running for some years.   The puppets used are a bit more sophisticated than the average glove puppet!  Each one is a highly detailed unique character with a moveable mouth and arms operated by rods.  They even have their own wardrobe of outfits  and can change their clothes to suit the type of performance they are giving.

You can see a three and half minute video on Youtube of the puppets performing

What kind of puppet shows do they do?

The puppets perform musical shows where they act out different songs.  You may have guessed from the title ‘Praisin’ Puppets’ that these puppets mime to songs about Jesus, anything from rap to rock and roll. The ‘Praisin’ Puppets’ feature regularly in our church services, but they are not just entertainment for the children.  Using the puppets to act out a song can bring a new dimension to a song that reaches adults as well as children.  As well as performing in the church, the puppets also go out and about into the local community.

They have performed for a local rest home, other churches and fundraising events, plus our own Parent and Toddler Group, Messy Church, Mega Club and at Christmas at the Kinson Conservative Club.

Puppet Team

Who are the Puppeteers?

The puppeteers are a small team of hard-working young people with their leader Sue.  They are all part of the congregation at Cornerstone Church, spending time every week practising their puppet skills and rehearsing for future events.

As a group of people who believe that Jesus is real and relevant today, they are passionate about using their puppets and some great songs to encourage people to hear about who Jesus is.   They also believe that they should live out what their puppets sing about, and they are currently involved in raising money for the local foodbank, through the ‘Praisin’ Puppets’ performances.

Can I book them?

‘Praisin’ Puppets’ are available for booking for local events or parties.  There is no set charge for booking the puppet team but donations are invited to be given to the team’s chosen charity, Bournemouth Foodbank.
